![]() ![]() ![]() That's assuming you want them to make a big deal out of the character at all and not have them one step above Jane Doe. What puzzle types are good, what traversal route finding is good, what combat is good - how does it make sense that some archaeologist is doing those things (generally solo). Where I think it gets tricky is making a game out of it, matching up the character with what kind of gameplay you want in there. She's pretty much a comic book superhero. I think 'classic' Lara works better in a similar setup to the 80's/90's action movie hero (or Indiana Jones), you just handwave away a lot and get on with things. But it was grating trying to inject some 'real world' plausibility in there and ticking all the callbacks to the original like being part of an upper class English family. I think the recent TR games are in a bit of a tough spot because Lara/the player character is split between being this newbie learning how to operate while out of her element (at least for survival), but also subtly ultra-capable and conveniently knows almost everything relevant to the legend at hand, which works okay for gameplay and drama. Three bats fly in from the caves ahead, and Lara will probably spot. I think the challenge is putting together all the fictional elements that support that "larger than life" version of the character. Draw pistols as you move into the cave, to take advantage of the games auto-aim feature.
